TikTok Ads Budget Calculator

A TikTok ads budget calculator helps you decide how much to spend on TikTok advertising. Work backwards from a goal – the number of sales, leads or app installs you want and what you can afford to pay for each – or forwards from a budget to the impressions, clicks and conversions it is likely to buy at your expected CPM, click-through rate and conversion rate.

  • $50 campaign / $20 ad group minimums
  • CPM → clicks → conversions
  • Budget from your goal

Your campaign

It also checks your plan against TikTok's minimum budgets: a campaign budget must be over $50 and an ad group daily budget over $20.

    TikTok's minimum budgets

    LevelDaily budgetLifetime budget
    CampaignMust exceed $50Must exceed $50
Ad groupMust exceed $20At least (number of scheduled days) × $20

A 31-day ad group on a lifetime budget therefore needs at least $620. TikTok also advises that the campaign budget should not be lower than the ad group budgets inside it, and that you cannot switch an ad group between daily and lifetime budgets once it is live – although you can change the amount. Minimums are shown in US dollars and may differ by currency or market.

How to set a TikTok ads budget

    Start from your goal

Decide what one result is worth to you. If a sale brings in $60 and your margin allows you to spend up to $25 to win it, then 100 sales need a budget of about $2,500 – roughly $83 a day over a month. If you do not yet know your cost per result, run a test first.

    Or start from your budget

Estimate what a budget will buy using numbers from your own account, a previous test or another platform as a rough starting point. Example: $1,500 at an $8 CPM buys 187,500 impressions. At a 1% click-through rate that is 1,875 clicks (a CPC of $0.80), and if 3% of visitors buy, about 56 sales – a cost per sale of around $26.67. If each sale is worth $60, revenue is about $3,375 and ROAS is about 2.2×.

    Budgeting for testing

On TikTok, the creative usually matters more than anything else. Plan a testing phase in which several videos run with enough budget for each to get a meaningful number of results, then move spend to the winners. The calculator's ad group mode shows the minimum spend for the number of ad groups and days you choose, and how many results each is likely to get at your expected cost per result – if that is only a handful, the test is too small to judge.

    Changing budgets without disrupting delivery

TikTok's guidance is to raise budgets gradually: during the learning phase, by no more than about 40% at a time, and afterwards by no more than about 30% per change, and not more often than every two days. Large, frequent jumps can reset learning and make costs less stable. If a campaign is doing well, scale it step by step, or duplicate the best ad group with a higher budget.

    What affects TikTok ad costs

    • Audience: narrow or highly competitive audiences cost more to reach.
    • Country and season: costs usually rise around major shopping periods.
    • Objective and bidding: optimising for purchases costs more per impression than optimising for reach or video views.
    • Creative quality: engaging, native-looking videos tend to get cheaper results; ads that look like TV commercials often struggle.
    • Creative fatigue: when the same people see an ad many times, CTR falls and costs rise, so refresh videos regularly.
    • Placement and format: in-feed ads, Spark Ads (boosting organic posts) and other formats perform differently.

    Example monthly plan

    PhaseDaysSet-upBudget
    Creative test1–73 ad groups × $25/day, 3–4 videos each$525
    Optimise8–14Keep the best 2 ad groups; pause weak videos; add new variations≈ $560 (2 × $40/day)
    Scale15–30Increase the winner by ≤ 30% every 2–3 days; refresh creatives weekly≈ $1,400
    Total30≈ $2,485

Each ad group stays above TikTok's $20 daily minimum, and the scaling phase follows TikTok's advice to increase budgets gradually. Adjust the numbers to your goal: if your expected cost per result is $25, the test phase above would bring in about 21 results – enough to compare ad groups roughly, though not to judge individual videos with confidence.

    Daily or lifetime budget?

A daily budget caps spend each day and suits always-on campaigns that you plan to adjust over time. A lifetime budget sets a total for a fixed schedule, and TikTok paces delivery across the days – some days may spend more than others, but the total will not exceed the lifetime amount. Lifetime budgets suit launches, sales and events with clear start and end dates. Remember that you cannot switch between the two once the ad group is live.

    Measure what matters

Install the TikTok Pixel or the Events API on your website (or an app measurement partner for apps) before you spend, so that TikTok can optimise for purchases or leads rather than clicks. Then compare cost per result and ROAS in Ads Manager with your own sales data. Enter those real figures into the calculator to plan the next month.
